Community Guidelines
Last updated: 2026-05-12
Daiyo only works if it feels safe to use. These guidelines are how we keep it that way. They apply to your behavior inside the app, in chat, and at every in-person meetup that started on Daiyo.
If you're not sure if something's OK, the answer is probably "ask first" or "don't."
✅ What we want on Daiyo
- Be yourself. Real name. Real age. Photos that actually look like you, taken in the last year or two.
- Be specific. "Coffee at Houndstooth Saturday 2pm" is a plan. "Hang out sometime" is not.
- Be kind. Default to warmth. People showed up to meet a stranger — that took something.
- Be on time. If you can't make it, say so as early as possible. Stuff happens, but ghosting hurts.
- Meet in public for first meetups. Coffee, a bar, a class, a venue with other people around. Save the private stuff for people you've actually built trust with.
- Tell a friend where you are. Use Daiyo's emergency contact + check-in features. They're there because we built them for you.
- Speak up early. If something feels off, leave. You don't owe anyone the rest of the evening.
- Report what crosses a line. Tap "report" inside any chat or after any meetup. We read every report.
🛑 Behavior that gets you banned
These are not warnings, not strikes, not "let's talk about it." Engaging in any of these will result in your account being suspended on the first credible report and permanently banned after review.
Sexual misconduct of any kind
Daiyo is not a hookup app and is not an escort platform. Specifically prohibited:
- Sexual assault, coercion, or unwanted physical contact of any kind during or after a meetup.
- Sexual messages, images, or solicitations in chat — including hints, suggestive emoji escalations, "send pic," requests for explicit content, or any commercial-sex framing.
- Exposure or public indecency during a meetup.
- Treating Daiyo as a venue for transactional intimacy — escort work, sugar arrangements, prostitution, sex work, or "compensated companionship."
- Sexual interest in or contact with anyone you know or suspect is under 18. This is reported to authorities. No exceptions.
Threats, violence, or stalking
- Threatening anyone with violence — verbally, in text, in person.
- Showing up at someone's home, workplace, or school uninvited.
- Continuing to contact someone after they've asked you to stop.
- Following someone after a meetup ends.
- Bringing a weapon to a Daiyo meetup.
Privacy violations
- Recording another user (audio or video) without their explicit, contemporaneous consent.
- Sharing another user's photos, name, contact info, location, workplace, or identifying details — anywhere, ever, to anyone.
- Using information you learned on Daiyo to look someone up on other platforms in a way they wouldn't welcome.
- Posting another user's private messages publicly.
Hate and discrimination
Targeting anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, citizenship status, or any other protected characteristic. Slurs are an automatic ban.
Fraud and impersonation
- Showing up looking nothing like your profile photos.
- Using AI-generated images of a fake person as your profile.
- Pretending to be someone else (real or fictional) to deceive a user.
- Romance scams, advance-fee scams, crypto scams, "test the platform" scams, any other scam.
- Selling or transferring your account.
Crime
- Drug sales or any commercial drug exchange at meetups.
- Weapons sales.
- Theft from a meeting partner.
- Anything that would attract a 911 call.
- Soliciting anyone to participate in illegal activity.
Manipulation of Daiyo's safety systems
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban.
- Submitting fraudulent verification documents.
- Coordinating with other users to mass-report a target.
- Coercing a user into changing or removing their report.
- Evading age verification.
⚠️ Behavior that lowers your trust score (but doesn't auto-ban)
These don't get you banned on a first incident, but a pattern shows up to moderators and can suspend your account, hide your profile from matches, or prevent you from hosting events:
- Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancels. Once is life. Three is a pattern.
- Pushing past stated preferences — keeping a topic going after someone says they're not into it, escalating closeness when someone pulls back. Not always reportable but always noticed.
- Visibly impaired meetups that make a partner uncomfortable or unsafe.
- Pressure to leave a public place for somewhere private during a first meetup.
- Bait-and-switch. Inviting someone for one activity then trying to redirect to something they wouldn't have agreed to.
We also dampen your visibility for low-signal profiles: no photo, no interests, blank bio, or photos that look stock.
🛟 Meeting in person, sensibly
These are recommendations, not rules. They're how the safest Daiyo members operate.
- First meet is public, daytime if possible. Coffee, lunch, a class, a busy bar early in the evening.
- Get there separately. Don't accept a ride from a stranger you're meeting for the first time.
- Tell someone. Share your plan with a friend. Set up a Daiyo emergency contact.
- Check in. Daiyo has a one-tap check-in. Use it.
- Drink less than usual. First meetups are a worse setting for getting drunk than seeing your existing friends. You want to be able to read the room.
- No private locations until you trust the person. No "let's go back to my place." No giving out your home address.
- Trust your gut and leave. You can always leave. You don't need a polite reason. "I have to go" is a complete sentence.
- Anything physical needs an explicit yes. Not silence. Not "no resistance." A yes.
If you experience or witness something serious, call 911 first. Then report to Daiyo so we can act on the account.
🧑⚖️ How moderation works
- We have a small moderation team that reviews every safety report.
- Auto-suspension happens immediately for the most serious report categories (sexual misconduct, threats, violence, exposure, underage concerns, impersonation of authority). The account stays suspended pending human review.
- Less-serious categories (harassment, privacy violations, stalking, hate speech) trigger auto-suspension at 2 verified open reports in 30 days.
- Trust-related categories (substance use, pushed boundaries) trigger review at 3 in 30 days.
- Final ban / unban decisions are always made by a human.
- We do not publicly explain individual moderation decisions, share evidence with the accused, or share evidence with reporters beyond what's necessary.
If you've been suspended and believe it was an error, email daiyosupport@gmail.com with your account email and a brief explanation. Replies typically come within 5 business days.
🤝 What we expect from local businesses
If you list a business on Daiyo (restaurants, bars, cafes, gyms, small venues), you also agree:
- Your business is real and properly licensed.
- The deal terms you publish are honored — no bait-and-switch.
- You do not collect Daiyo users' contact info beyond what they choose to share.
- You do not retaliate against users who decline to redeem your deal.
- You comply with all applicable food-service, alcohol, and accessibility laws.
📣 Reporting and contact
- In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US). Daiyo's in-app report is for moderation review, not emergency response.
- Inside the app: tap "report" on any user, chat, or post-meetup review.
- Email: daiyosupport@gmail.com
- Legal requests from law enforcement: daiyosupport@gmail.com (subject "Legal request")
🔄 Changes
We update these guidelines as we learn what does and doesn't work. The current version is always available in the app under You → Legal. Material changes get a push notification.
